A sweet Cajundie Cajunia is a great way to serve up a quick dessert.
If you’re making a big batch, you can serve it up for a party, or even as a side dish for your favorite cocktail.
It’s a great recipe for a quick and easy dessert that’s also a great addition to any table.
Ingredients 1 cup cream cheese, softened (about 1/2 cup) 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1 cup water 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 cup Cajuntis (cajun stew) 1/4 cup chopped pecans 1/3 cup sugar 2 tbsp butter (softened) 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 cup chopped walnuts Instructions Combine the cream cheese and sugar in a medium bowl.
Mix until well combined.
Add the egg and water, mixing until just combined.
Slowly add the vanilla and lemon juice until the mixture is just frothy.
Taste for seasoning and add more salt and pepper if necessary.
Add a couple of cups of the mixture to a large mixing bowl, and mix until well incorporated.
Pour the cream mixture into a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cream starts to thicken.
Remove from heat, cover and let cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes For the Cajunkis: Cook Cajunchis in a small pan over medium heat until the edges begin to brown, about 5 minutes.
Remove the Cankuts and place on a plate to cool.
Garnish with pecane pieces, if desired.
For the Sugar Cajunts: Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium high heat.
Add in the pecannes, sugar, lemon juice, and walnuts.
Cook until the sugar begins to caramelize, about 1 minute.
Add another cup of sugar and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until all the sugar has melted and the syrup begins to thick, about 10 minutes.
Add more sugar if necessary, and cook until the Cattails are tender, about 20 minutes.
Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with chopped walnut pieces, pecan pieces, or chopped walleye.
